Here we go again

Here is a shot of Hurricane Wilma, as it is coming off the Yucatan penninsula. If this doesn't show a deadly storm, I don't know what does:

For those who haven't been watching the news lately, this storm is forecast to be picked up by the jetstream and hit Florida on Monday. I am praying that it stays a low category storm, but I don't know...

For those of you who haven't been on a military vessel and had the joy of sleeping on one, here is an interesting shot:

This is on the USS Iwo Jima. The clearance between bunks is 22"... a few of my fellow friends on DMAT CA-11 said that turning over at night meant whacking a shoulder during the night. Ouch. Guess the guys who sleep on these normally learn not to move at night.

Today is a bittersweet day for me.

Many of you know that today would have been mine and Rory's 21rst anniversary. This is the bitter part. I miss him terribly. And days like today remind me of our life together. And what could have been only if... I beat myself up with the only if's... So, I wasn't really in a great mood today.

But then, here comes the sweet part... my daughter called me. And she let me know that I AM GOING TO BE A GRANDMA! Yep, Diana is pregnant! Call it odd, but when she called me the other day and was sick, that was the first thought I had. But I didn't ask her (not sure she knew for sure at that time). But she lit me up with that congratulation! I am not sure, hon, if you know how you turned what was going to be a difficult day for me (probably for the rest of my life) into a very, very positive thing.

I am so happy for Diana and Jon! Congratulations you two!

Charity and University Hospitals "Unsalvagable"

These are the two largest hospitals in the NOLA region, and serve many of the uninsured... sad.
