A New Job... and a New Life
Well, on September 1, I started working as a Hazardous Substances Scientist for the State of CA Department of Toxic Substances Control.I have been trying to get this job for 4-1/2 months. Some of you know I went for interviews in southern CA (Glendale), and had submitted applications for other locations, including Cypress, and here in Sacramento.Well, the Sacramento office contacted me. I went through another interview (oral interview with a panel of interviewers, and a written assessment). I really wasn't confident that I would get the job, but then they called me looking for my references. They called ALL OF THEM, got wonderful reviews from them, and surprise! They offered me a job! Thanks to all of you who gave me such wonderful reviews!
So, I am now a State of CA employee. I have a lot of training to take, including HazWOPER and others. Should keep me busy for a while... heh. Thus, is the beginning of my new life, in science rather than computer programming. The light at the end of the tunnel is NOT the headlight of an oncoming train after all!
So, right after my first day of work, I went on a trip. I went to Las Vegas, and visited my family, briefly. Floored my mom! She was NOT expecting me. Then I went to Salt Lake City and saw my daughter and her family. Oh my... Jonny is soooooo cute!
I miss seeing them all. I have to get back there, but can't afford it for a little while. Soon...
