Last Rites for the Floppy Disk
In this article posted at CNET Blogma, a British computer store (ironically called PC World) has announced it will no longer sell floppy disks.
R.I.P. 3.5" floppy
(On a personal note, although I haven't used a floppy disk in any of my own PC's since before 2000, schools still have uses for them. A protein analyzer I used at Sac State less than a year ago still uses floppies for storage of output. And I found a whole box of used floppies while cleaning out a storage unit I had. Any takers???)
