German Red Cabbage

1 Medium Red Cabbage
1 or 2 Green Apples, Cut up
    or 2-3 Tbsp Applesauce
2 Tbsp Oil or bacon fat
1/2 C. White Vinegar
1/4 C. Sugar
Salt and Cinammon to taste (Optional)

Grate or cut fine the cabbage. Put in a colander and pour boiling water over cabbage. Let drain. Heat saucepan or pressure cooker with the oil or fat. Add all other ingredients and mix well. Cook at medium heat until tender.
